'Why Celtic and Rangers must leave Scottish Football'!Under the current U.E.F.A. remit, based on the President Mr. Platini, it is not an option for the Glasgow teams to join the English Premier elite, even if they were to be invited in to the Championship initially and promote their way into the big time. The only down side to Celtic and Rangers joining another domestic league would be there is no guarantee of European football every season, which is a major consideration. One suggestion would be that the Celtic and Rangers played off against the top two Scottish Premier teams at the season's end for the right to take up the Champions League slots in the competition based on their native country status, this would certainly give the incentive to all 4 teams involved at the end of the season, and stimulate the desire within the Scottish Premier league. Maybe, Celtic and Rangers would be eligible to compete in their respective cup competitions in Scotland as they are normally played at the same time as the F.A. Cup in England, as another alternative to retain European competition status. There are endless options and permutations that could be considered, we believe that for Scottish football to flourish someone some where should be prepared to make brave decisions for the development of Scottish football. Surely it must be good for the development of the game in Scotland, if the monopoly of the 2 major clubs from Glasgow were to ply their status elsewhere, as it can be clearly seen again, that there is a two tier league forming again this season between the two main rivals. It is the competition below the Glasgow giants that is interesting and to finish 3rd in the Scottish Premier at this time, although an achievement, it would be good to see a new name lifting the title. The success of Celtic and Rangers competing in Europe every year is a stimulus along with the occasional forage of one or more of the other teams, but with money being the watch word of the modern game, surely for the big two, capacity crowds against different opposition would be in their interests. We feel that financial incentives to protect the other teams within the S. P. L. could be suitably arranged, as the Club’s within the current Premier League have already indicated they would be prepared to leave the current league and create their own independent competition at the detriment of the smallest clubs competing in the lower divisions. Will the loss of Celtic and Rangers affect the other sides in the Premier League, maybe initially, but what an opportunity for the Edinburgh and Dundee teams to take up the mantle of being Scotland's finest. With the possibility of a closer league campaign by the other clubs this will stimulate the optimistic supporter to rally round. But what could be more important is that lower income club's adapt a policy to concentrate on player development, especially, of the home grown players. It is a long time since Scotland had a wealth and in-depth strength of well established names to fight for places within the national squad. We shall be launching a fund raising local, regional and national competition shortly, and further details are within this web site for you to play an active part in the game to show the 'Reconstruction of European Football', and we hope to show every domestic league competition, but certainly the major European football nations. |
